La Grosse Talle, for a very pleasant stay in the french countryside!

La Grosse Talle is a charming, ancient farmhouse in the heart of the Poitou-Charentes, built of stone in typical Charente style. It incorporates a thoroughly renovated cottage and a studio, fully furnished and equipped, with authentic details. On the premises you will also find a quiet small « rural campground » (six places) and all visitors of La Grosse Talle have access to the swimmingpool.

All ingredients are there for a most wonderful holiday: you will easily relax in this air of peace, space and comfort.The natural and historical richness of this area will provide you with unexpected discoveries.

Cottage, appartment, campground and swimmingpool are awaiting you...

You can choose for the « gîte rural » (cottage) that sleeps 6. For your stay with your partner or alone, the studio may suit you well (sleeps 2). Or you want to go for a stay on the campground, with few other guests and lots of space (max. 6 places). In any case, you can use our swimmingpool (10 x 5,5 meter, 1.20 deep).

The swimming poolStudio and gîte can be linked together and will permit you to come with your party of 8. This will give you the use of 2 bathrooms and 2 kitchens.

Sheets and towels can be rent; you will find your beds made upon arrival. Upon request, we will prepare a child’s cot; a high chair is also available. Animals are welcome (except exotic animals) on the condition that we are informed before your arrival.

The cottage

The cottage (« gîte rural ») is situated in the oldest part of the farm. It is thouroughly renovated and well-equipped, whereas authentic elements have been preserved. The gîte sleeps 6, but an extra sofabed can be provided. You will enjoy the sunny, south-facing and walled garden, as well as the rest of the premises. The gîte has its own entrance and parking.

The studio

studioSituated in the oldest part of the farm, this apartment is suited for 1 or 2 persons. Beautiful elements, like the extraordinary stone floor, stone and wooden walls, have been preserved.
The studio has a kitchen corner and private bathroom (shower, washbasin, toilet).
The glass doors give access to your private terace, with view on the campground.

The « camping rural », a very tranquil campground

We have only six places on our spacious campground, but the sanitary block is worth a campground with stars! The campground is situated in in an old orchard in which we added many trees over the past few years.

The big old cherrytree is a very populair spot of the camping. Huge as it is, it is the perfect place to sit in the shadow. It marks a central point at the terrain and people like to meet one another over here.

Your stay with friends and family and.. new friends!

Your hosts, Beer Bergman and Jan Nagel, are restoring the property with loving care and live all year round at 'La Grosse Talle'. They speak fluent English and French and will be very happy to help to orient you, providing maps and travel tips, to make the most of your stay. In preparation for your visit, learn more about the Pays Mellois. Your fellow guests are cosmopolitan Europeans, most of whom speak English. Many lasting and reciprocal friendships are formed during such visits.

La Grosse Talle is big enough to be quiet and on you own, with friends and/or family members. In high season, it also offers you the possibility to meet other guests and establish new friendships!

Children’s art gallery

In high-season and during schoolvacations, we welcome many families with children. Upon request, we can provide you with a cot and a high-chair.
